CUBS CRUSH CARDINALS 12-3, Lilly gets 15th win

BREAKING NEWS – Cubs crush Cardinals 12-3.

GO CUBS GO!  Talk about a good old fashioned ass whooping! 

Cubs Pitching.  Ted Lily notched 7 strike-outs and only allowed 3 runs in 7 innings of work.  Wuertz and Bobby Howry each pitched a scoreless inning to finish up the Cubs victory!

 Cubs Hitting.  Lee (18) and Ramirez (22) each homered and Jones went 3-4 with 2 RBI’s.  Craig Monroe added 2 runs in his pitch hit appearance.  Great hitting today, and frankly, it’s about time the Cubbies got there bats into the game!

Bearded Bears in Attendance.  A few of the Bearded Bears were in attendance today and enjoyed the Cubs crushing the Cardinals.  In particular, I’d like to see how Brad Patterson is doing today with two losses today.  First, his beloved Cardinals were slaughtered by the Cubs, and then, the Cameltoes were SHOCKED by F*ck Keyshawn in a stunning upset!

Josh Hancock’s father sues… everyone?

In shocking news, Josh Hancock’s father (Dean Hancock) is suing three defendant’s for his son’s untimely death.  His son, Cardinal pitcher Josh Hancock, died when he crashed his rented Ford Explorer into the back of a tow truck that was assisting another motorist, Justin Tolar.

As of now, the three defendants in Hancock’s lawsuit are Mike Shannon’s restaurant, the tow truck driver (Eddie’s Towing) , AND the guy who’s car broke down, Justin Tolar.    How do you sue a guy for his car breaking down?  Answer – Dean Hancock and his lawyer,  are  saying Tolat was negligent for allowing his car to break down.  Mike Shannon should be sued for being Mike Shannon, but, not over-serving!  So everyone EXCEPT Hancock were negligent?   How about suing the highway department for not making the road wider? 

His father should remember that the reason Josh Hancock was driving a rental Explorer, was because he totaled his own car two days before.  Hancock’s first wreck that week was in the wee hours in the morning, but no charges were filed against Hancock in that wreck.

I had no idea, you could get drunk, get in your truck, bring weed with you, talk on the cell phone and SOMEHOW still crash?  That’s AMAZING!  So unbelievable that it must be someone else’s fault.  Nevermind that Hancock was drunk and high.

I truly feel bad Josh Hancock died.  No one is perfect, and we all have screwed up before.  Hopefully we’ve learned from our mistakes, and don’t do it anymore.  However, Josh Hancock wasn’t so lucky.  He’s gone forever, because of his screw up. 

Dean Hancock needs to realize it was his son’s fault, and no one else’s.

 I still can’t believe it!  I waited a week to post, just because I thought there would be a world-wide outcry to remove Linsay ‘Eat Something’Lohan from the top spot for ’07.  Alas, it did not happen.  I’m not even as upset that this bone-head guy picked some Internet cartoon for the list – #95, The ‘Avatar’ of Second Life.  Why pick a cartoon?

9)  Miss Colts Fan.  Do you wax, or just like, shave that?  Go Colts!  She also enjoys the Brickyard 500, the Indy 500, and any other motorsports popular in the ‘Circle City’.  Find her at any Dollar Store in the Beach Grove area.

Well – he’s not my style, but, I know Brabson likes him.  Not much else to say.  He’s got one helluva beard, so, I guess that counts for something!

Cubs hold on to close one…finally!

Cubs Take Game 1, 5-3

That was close, thank you Ryan Dempster!  No longer will I call you Dumpster.  At least for a week.  He saved the game from Wuertz and Kotts who loaded the bases in the Eighth.  The best part was after strinking Preston Wilson out, Wilson broke hit bat by clubbing the plate.  TAKE THAT PLATE!  Typical Carindal mindset, blame the dirt, but not yourself.

Wilson, not seemlingly upset by the loss, was seen here in the clubhouse, after breaking his bat.  He said, “Lets party”.  Hmmm….

Also, Pie nailed his first big-league HR.  YES!  The Cubs are going to have to send someone down in the next few days to make room for Angel Guzman who is set to join the team in St. Louis this weekend.  WHO’s going back to Iowa?  I’d send Izturis, but, I’m not Lou.  Probably will be an outfielder, either Muton or Pie will be spending some time in Des Moines.

Hopefully they can WIN again today and sweep these punks!

Welcome to ROUND II, mi’ amigo’s in St. Louis!

Tonight at 7:10 PM, Marquis visits his old team at New Busch Stadium.  The Cubs should be able to smack around Reyes (0-3; 5.63) early tonight.  Hopefully the Cubs will be hitting like they were in the series finale against the Brewers on Wednesday.

Hopeful:  That Theriot starts at short again!   This kid looks really good and hopefully he gets some more playing time.  Pie continues to gain experience and play well.   That Lee has a good game.  He’s never hit at the new Busch Stadium.

Going to ‘the Lou’?– For anyone going to the game this weekend, remember to be careful in Chingy’s “STL”.  Stay by downtown.   By the way, a round of applause to the ‘Gateway’ city who edged out Detroit, Flint MI, and Compton, CA to gain the proud accomplishment for ’06 (looks to repeat in’07) of the most dangerous city in America.   Also, East St. Louis wasn’t counted in the numbers.  That will be the only accomplishment this town can repeat in this year!

Cubs Rock Brewers 9-3 to end home stand

YES!  Finally good to see the Cubbies blow up against the Brewers yesterday.  Always a positive thing to win on “getaway” day.

Ted Lilly finally got some run support, and just about everyone on the Cubs contributed.  Lilly evened up his record on the year to 2-2 with a very good 2.18 ERA.  Another solid Cubs start by someone everyone thought may be a question mark coming into this year.

Theriot, Floyd, Lee, and Barrett all connected for 2 RBI’s, and DeRosa also had an RBI.  DeRosa was hit in the hand in the later innings, by a pitch, but appeared to be OK. 

I also am VERY excited about the fact Theroit started at short in the game.  Nice not to look as Izturis for a game.  Mr. Izturis is hitting a woo-ful .184 in 17 games in 49 plate appearances.   His fielding is certainly no better with 3 errors in 127 innings.  This gives him a fielding percentage of .955 for the year.  Not exactly Gold Glove material.   

BEARDED BEARS THOUGHTS ON SS:  Give Cedeno more time.  Although he’s not lighting the world on fire with his hitting (.100 with 30 AB), he could become a good player with more time.  Look out though – Theriot is fast, versitile, and can HIT!  Gee – a SS for the Cubs with a BA above .250?  WOW

ROUND 1: Cardinals

That’s hard to write Round 1: Cardinals.  The Cubs were finally put down in the rubber game by Pujols extra-inning home run.  The only thing comforting Sunday was we were drinking beer at Hooters, and Barrett continues to rock the long ball. 

Even thought the Cardinals TRIED to give the Cub’s multiple chances, we couldn’t capitalize on their mistakes.  Round 2 in STL will see an improved Cubs team.  At least that’s the hope.

So let’s recap the weekend:

The Good, Bad, and the Ugly

The Good:

1. Barrett.  Barrett had one heck of a series.  He’s been on a home run run here lately, and he’s in the top ten in HR in the NL right now.  Go number 8!
2. Jason Marquis.  Wow.  What a game Saturday.  Marquis doesn’t look like his old self yet and he’s had solid starts.  Hope this continues throughout the season.  He’s now 2-1 with a 1.88 ERA.  Even Ohman (puke) couldn’t blow it for the Cubs.  He brought his svelte 6.00 ERA into the 8 and 9 innings on Sat.  Thanks dude.
3. Cubs Hitting (Sat and Sun only).  The Cubs finally broke out of their hitting freeze Saturday and Sunday, and scored plenty of runs Saturday and Sunday.  Friday they could only manage one run, in a game they should have won!

The Bad:

1. Friday’s loss.  Typical.  Take a 1-0 lead into the seventh, and give up the 2-run long ball.  Stupid Preston Wilson.  Lily has wasted TWO awesome starts on a team that refuses to score any runs for him.  Reminds me of the run support Maddux used to get.  Lilly has pitched 13 innings in his last two starts, allowed 6 hits and 3 runs and is 0-2 for his efforts. 
2. Sunday’s loss.  A windy day in Chicago made for a wild score.  Combined the teams scored 21 runs.  Too bad, but the Cubbies just got outslugged.  Stupid Pujols.

The Ugly:

1. Pujols and Wilson.  Whose home runs beat our Cubbies.
2. Freaky Friday.  A triple play?  Nada.  Some of the ‘wierdest’ baseball ever.  Welcome to Chicago Lou.
3. Cubs hitting Friday.  WILL SOMEONE PLEASE HIT THE DAMN BALL!
