Steamboat Update 5/23

Well, about 3 1/2 weeks left before Steamoat!  I hope you guys have been training.  TO be honest, this Bearded Bear has been slacking off on his training.  I need to pick up the pace again.

 I did discover the paved trail out by Pioneer Parkway.  Its a paved trail that winds behind Mt. Hawley airport, past Pioneer Parkway, and out to the Rock Island trail by Dunlap.  From there, it goes forever.  I’ll be honest, I strugled badly this weekend when I ran the trail hard.  One other wierd thing, there is a 6 foot high metal tube that runs under Rt 6 / I-474.  This tube is a little weird to run through, but, kind of cool.  If we were still in High School, no doubt, we’d love that area – haha.  No one is going to go down there.

 There is a creek going through the other metal tube.

Steamboat Update 4.30.07 – MOVE IT!

Today Santo and I only had time to run 1 mile before work.  He looked like he was going to die out there.

 Anyway, since we only did 1 mile, I MAY attempt my first 3-a-dayof the season!  This is because I only ran 1 mile this morning, It’s nice out, and I’m getting new shoes from Running Central today!  So, it’s the trifecta today kids!

Anyway,  I hear Patty may be in the running now, so, who else is going to run?  Come on Bobby!

I need a new pair of shoes anyway, and Steamboat was $25 to register, so I could have had a new pair of running shoes for $55.00.  Oh well, maybe next year.

Steamboat Update 4.28.07 – BRING IT!

Steamboat update!

Started off today right, by starting off the day with a short 2.5 miler.  We did well.

 We would have gotten an earlier 7:00 AM start, but, I had to pick up one of the Bearded Bears over by Bradley this morning.  Needless to say, the Bearded Bear I picked up wasn’t running.

 Off to Running Central to get a new pair of kicks.  The Sports Cream isn’t helping the knees anymore, and I need a new pair anyway.

Steamboat Update 4.26.07

Training Update 4.26.07 –  This Bearded Bear wasn’t diggin the weather yesterday (Wednesday), so I took the day off.  I hope I can still prepare for “the boat” in time.  Something about running in the rain – with a wet dog – just wasn’t too appealing.  Therefore, we took the day off, and I ate two Little Debby Fancy Cakes.  Man those are good!  Anyway, back to the two-a-days today.

Running in the Boat – Some are still on the fence about running this year, so I’ve compiled some photo’s of people that Santo and I have seen running.  You guys have a good shot at beating these people.

1) Mr. Miagi – This youthful runner is full of energy.  After teaching Daniel-son how to defeat the evil Cobras after the school dance, Mr. Miagi has adopted running as his new “chi”.  Good news for Gar-Bear, you will beat someone!  Mr. Miagi – ‘Your are motoring’!

2)  The PO-LICE!  –  While not in traditional “running” clothes, per se – This runner may very well take the Steamboat title in ’07.  That is if he’s not too worried about losing his wig.  Santo and I outran the Po-po that day.   Oh snap – is that a billy-club??

3) Cardinal Fan Fun Run – East Peoria.  you can imagine my surprise when I saw this Cardinal Fun Run about to begin in East Peoria.  I looked across the river and saw this behind the riverfront Wal-Mart.  Apparently their favorite player is Albert Pujols.  Some had T-Shirts stating, “I take it – Pooo Holes Style”.  Unsure of it’s meaning since I’m a hetro Cubs fan.  I think that is Patty in the blue thong and sunglasses.

4)  Sponge Bob?  not much to say about this.  I think even Drunk Nick can beat this cat.  Dude appears to be getting ready to run though.

Steamboat Classic….Are you READY?

RAAAAR my bearded (and running) brothers!

This Bearded Bear is a running fool now!  I’ve been running ‘two-a-days’ trying to prepare for the 2007 Steamboat Classic in Peoria on June 17th.  Should be a good time, so if you haven’t signed up yet, you can do so here: http://www.steamboatclassic.org/4mile_new.htm.

I’ve also found a new running outfit that I may try out.  I might have to go with more a a fuchsia though.  Anyway, this is the top choice right now.  Of course – minus the black pants underneath. I hope’Joseph’ is not running the Steamboat.  I heard that this guy practices on an elliptical for the Steamboat (inside joke – sorry).
